Louise is a GP with Dyfi Valley Health, covering the Machynlleth and Glantwymyn practices. Louise trained as a GP at Aberdeen before doing an additional Rural GP scheme in Scotland.
Both Louise and her fiancé are avid mountain bikers, with their children, two boys aged 4 and 2, also joining in on their balance bikes. “We look after a tight knit and very stoical community and get a great mixture of typical GP, complex chronic disease care, minor injuries, acute medicine and palliative care cases”, said Louise.
“Mountain biking brought us here. I work part-time and as a partnership we are very aware of our need to get the balance right, so we arrange our work as flexibly as possible around each other’s family commitments and hobbies. When I’m at work it will be a long intense day, but once I’m off work, I don’t have to think about it and I can enjoy being part of the community”.
